We are currently recruiting for Curriculum Leader for Post-16, IB Mathematics.

Job Purpose

We require an ambitious, experienced teacher to secure the highest possible outcomes in the Core Curriculum area in GEMS Wellington International School.  With the development of a three-school model, the successful candidate will need to be able to inspire and motivate others, harnessing the key strengths of their colleagues, to lead continual improvement.

This would be an exciting opportunity for an experienced IB teacher with a track record of outstanding classroom practice who has a desire to develop in leadership with an IB curriculum focus.  This position would suit an outstanding teacher with aspirations to move to an Assistant Headteacher position in the future.

Skills

Key Responsibilities for Post-16 IB Curriculum Leader for Mathematics:

Leadership:

  • Develop IB curriculum vision aligned with school goals and priorities.
  • Ensure alignment with the school development plan and drive national agenda priorities.
  • Provide positive and strategic leadership, fostering a culture of fortitude, empathy and integrity.
  • Coordinate staff deployment and promote whole school initiatives.
  • Implement strategic action planning and monitoring for all staff through rigorous MER that is centered around growth

Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum:

  • Further enhance teaching quality and ensure staff continuously develop their IB knowledge, skills and practice.
  • Design curriculum maps and schemes of work preparing students for GCSE and IB study.
  • Incorporate innovation and digital technology into the curriculum.
  • Monitor curriculum development and respond to national and local initiatives.
  • Ensure curriculum adaptations are timely and have a positive impact on student outcomes.

Assessment: Progress and Attainment:

  • Possess specialist experience in teaching IB Higher Level Analysis and Approaches Mathematics.
  • Ensure accountability for student progress and outcomes.
  • Analyse student performance data rigorously and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assure quality of assessment design and adherence to school policies.
  • Embed standardisation and moderation procedures into department practice.
  • Has a secure knowledge and understanding of the IA process and criteria, supporting the wider team with accurate judgements.

Developing Self and Others:

  • Lead CPD initiatives and support professional development with an IB focus.
  • Foster positive working relationships within and across phases.
  • Conduct Performance Development Meetings (GPS) and assist in teacher recruitment and induction.

Person Specification:

  • Hold a Bachelors degree with PGCE/PGDE or equivalent.
  • Evidence on-going personal professional development as both a teacher and/or leader.
  • Evidence of developing others, either through mentoring/coaching.
  • IB category 1 training. IB category 2 or higher training is desirable.
  • Experience in teaching and/or leading at least 2 phases, with evidence of outstanding personal practice. Must include post-16 IB experience.
  • A track record of raising achievement and improving outcomes for students.
  • Have a willingness to collaborate and share their outstanding practice
  • Have a growth mindset, whereby they are reflective and solution focussed.
  • Be creative and enthusiastic in their approach to teaching
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to work closely with colleagues, students and parents
  • Be willing to make a positive contribution to our school community and culture through active engagement in our extra-curricular programme and community-based events.
